Flying by the Seat of my Pants

Isn't that how one describes a situation where you really have no set plan and are just running on pure hope? Well, that is the best way to describe what I am doing with this blog for now because I really have no idea where it will go. That doesn't mean that I don't have ideas. It just means that right now I am not willing to commit to one topic alone.

When you think about the working from home lifestyle, you realize that it is hard to describe it in simple terms. There are so many facets to it, not the least being juggling time, our most precious gift. So it is fair to say that this blog will consist of ideas, experiences, plans, opinions and maybe even the odd rant.

According to all the 'gurus' (a term I hate, btw) failing to plan is planning to fail. That seems such a trite thing to say, and yet there is some basis to it. Goal setting i.e. planning, is important in order to achieve success in whatever you do. Writing those goals down is supposedly the magic answer to actually getting where you want to be in life. It is quite possible that the reason I am not making as much online as I want is due (in part at least) to my failing to write my goals down.

Writing goals down isn't enough in itself, however. The goals need to be detailed, with a schedule, and should be reviewed daily. Of course life has a way of derailing even the best goals, and so it is important to understand that some flexibility is also required. Goals are not set in stone and should be considered guidelines to be followed as closely as possible.

Although I have not written my goals down in the past, because of this blog I am going to create a set and share them in the hopes that it will keep me accountable. I plan to have them done by the end of next week and hope to have them done sooner. Once done I will share my goals and the process I used to set them.

Do you set goals? Do you write them down?
